My earliest memories of books are of our neighbor Mrs. Wilson reading A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh books. I remember being lost in the stories, living with Christopher Robin, Winnie, Tigger, Eyeore, Kanga, and Roo and a host of others. I remember being taken to that world in the comfort and safety of Mrs. Wilson’s lap. She gave me the Pooh books when we moved away. I smile, and thank her each time I think of those books, and the gift of reading she gave to me.
That is why I write children’s books. I want to create stories and memories that will be shared by children and parents. My stories have lessons. They can be used to reinforce the lessons parents wish to teach to their children. The first day of school can be very intimidating. Reminding a child that Claire was nervous about starting the Fire Horse Academy, but how she faced her fears, can make it less so.
Enjoy my children’s books. I hope they can take you to places you have never been, and bring you and your children home again, safely.
